Как убрать 404 ошибку на новостях и рубриках?

Проблема казалось бы банальная. На VPN стоит два сайта, один стоит в папке .../root/var/www/html второй в .../root/var/www/html/домен

На втором сайте не работает ЧПУ, выдает 404 ошибку.

Пробовалось:

1. Использовать дефолтный .htaccess
2. .htaccess с первого сайта (с правилами:

3. Советы перечисленные на этом сайте испробованы, в .htaccess пробовал вариации типа

По info.php у обоих сайтов все сходится по описанию... не знаю что делать, хостер помочь не смог...
